28th July 2011 – The Advocate 2011 Cradle Coast Regional Tourism Awards
Hide-Away Cottage was declared the Winner in the Accommodation (Bed and Breakfast Category) of the Cradle Coast Regional Tourism Awards, the judges declaring that Hide-Away Cottage Retreat offers a unique magical touch of the Tasmanian Rural lifestyle in picturesque surroundings but with every convenience and comfort available. The cottage provides privacy, seclusion and old world charm. It has a feeling of remoteness but is convenient to many of the North West Coast Tourism attractions and only a short drive to Burnie, for restaurants, theatre, shopping and the beach. It provides niche accommodation where guests can experience the peace and relaxation of a country homestead and where their children can play outside in safety (as children used to do).

All listings on TakeABreak.com.au are reviewed by guests, and the winners are then specially selected from over 22,000 properties in 1400 localities and 39 accommodation types.
Guests were the ultimate judges with the finalists having to qualify with a consistent 4/5 rating from five or more guest comments.
Using this feedback to narrow down the field to approximately 150 finalists, the TakeABreak.com.au team then reviewed each property on a number of criteria, eventually selecting a winner in each category.
Hide-Away Cottage Retreat is the State winner in the; The Country Holiday Accommodation and the Self Contained Holiday Accommodation Awards for “Best Places to Stay in Tasmania.” It is nestled in rolling hills, just 8kms from Burnie. This delightful fully self-contained, two-storey country cottage is set among trees on peaceful rural acreage. It has all the rustic appeal of a hand-hewn cottage but is fully equipped, cosy and comfortable inside. It is an idyllic place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet close enough to Burnie to enjoy shopping, restaurants, theatre and the beach. It is also a place where children can hand-feed sheep, play in safety and enjoy the pleasures of the countryside.
Awards were divided into two groups – the accommodation awards and the themed awards. Accommodation awards for 2010 were given to the winners across the following categories: Serviced apartment; Self-contained/Self-catering; Budget; Hosted; Self contained B&B; Health/lifestyle; Hotels and Motels; Holiday Parks and Farm Stays.
Meanwhile the themed categories consisted of Gay and lesbian-friendly; Accessible; Beach; Group accommodation; Luxury; Romantic; Unique; Pet-friendly; Family-friendly; City and Country.
Justin Butterworth, joint CEO of TakeABreak.com.au explained, “The TakeABreak.com.au Best Places to Stay awards showcase accommodation providers who consistently do an outstanding job in meeting and exceeding their guest’s expectations. We felt there was a huge gap in the market for recognition in these specialist categories of boutique accommodation by the travelling public.”
“By holding these awards and nominating the “best of the best” it gives visitors to our site the confidence that they will find a range of truly outstanding accommodation in whatever category they are searching.”
